CIP, drainage and maintenance for the full loop

The circulation circuit must be inspectable and cleanable as a system, including its interfaces.

Draw the cleaning boundary

Include heater passages, pump wet end, vessel surfaces, entrainment devices, recirculation branches and concentrate withdrawal. Identify how cleaning reaches and returns from each location. Product movement during production does not prove CIP coverage.

Choose conditions from the actual soil

A procedure depends on deposits, product composition, materials and the available cleaning equipment. Validate chemistry, temperature, flow and time against agreed cleanliness and residue criteria. Do not adopt a generic recipe from an unrelated product.

Design access before fixing the layout

Check space for heater inspection, seal replacement, internals removal and safe isolation. Include drains and low points on the piping review. A compact skid can still require significant maintenance clearance.

Record return-to-service checks

Define who verifies cleaning completion, residual removal, reassembly and instrument readiness. Compare productive hours and cleaning downtime on the same campaign basis when assessing competing proposals.

MODULE 02

External heater

Add heat under pressure. In the common non-boiling heater arrangement, pressure in the circuit limits boiling within the heater. Heat is added before the liquid enters the flash zone. Tube or plate geometry is selected from product behaviour and pressure-drop constraints, rather than the circulation label alone.

Entrainment separation

Protect the recovered vapour. Droplets leaving with the vapour represent product loss and can contaminate downstream equipment. A separation device must work with the product’s foam and fouling behaviour. The choice of internals depends on the operating envelope and cleaning access.

Controls, sampling & CIP interfaces

Observe the limits; validate the clean. A useful control philosophy connects each process risk to a measurement and response. Loss of circulation, feed interruption or a changing vacuum needs a defined action. The cleaning boundary must include the pump and every product-contact part of the loop.
