Vacuum operation of forced circulation evaporators

Review absolute pressure, product temperature, condensation and pump suction together when defining vacuum evaporation and product-quality limits.

Use absolute pressure consistently

Define vessel pressure together with the proposed product temperature and boiling-point elevation. Specify whether pressure values are absolute or gauge. The operating temperature follows the actual product and pressure conditions, not a generic vacuum label.

Include condensation and non-condensables

State cooling-water conditions and the vapour load used to size condensation. Identify the vacuum-generation scope and handling of non-condensables. Review start-up and operating conditions as well as the nominal evaporation duty.

Check liquid inventory and suction

The separator's pressure and liquid level affect circulation-pump suction. Review suction geometry and hot-liquid conditions with the pump selection. Product quality still requires a complete residence-history review under the proposed vacuum arrangement.

Information to include in your enquiry

  • Absolute vessel pressure
  • Product boiling-point elevation
  • Cooling-water supply conditions
  • Liquid level and suction geometry

Circulation pump & drive functional diagram
MODULE 01

Circulation pump & drive

Keep the loop moving. The circulation pump sets the flow through the heater. That flow is distinct from the incoming feed and from the mass of water evaporated. Selection must follow the concentrated liquid throughout the planned operating range, including start-up and restart after cooling.

MODULE 03

Flash separation vessel

Release vapour and retain liquid. The pressure change at the separator enables part of the heated liquid to flash. The vessel provides space for vapour disengagement while maintaining liquid inventory for recirculation. Its level and geometry therefore affect both separation and pump suction.
