Flash separation vessel for forced-circulation evaporation

Release vapour and retain liquid. Define its duty within the complete food-concentration circuit.

MODULE 03

The pressure change at the separator enables part of the heated liquid to flash. The vessel provides space for vapour disengagement while maintaining liquid inventory for recirculation. Its level and geometry therefore affect both separation and pump suction.

Specification inputs

ParameterCondition to state
Flash conditionProduct temperature and absolute vessel pressure, with boiling-point elevation.
Vapour loadActual vapour volume at operating conditions, plus carry-over and foam behaviour.
Liquid inventoryWorking volume, level range and implications for thermal residence history.
Nozzle arrangementReturn entry, suction, discharge and cleanability considered together.

Maintenance access

Identify access to the vapour zone and liquid-contact surfaces. Inspect deposits at the return entry and around internals. Agree a controlled drainage and isolation method before maintenance.

Selection limit

A larger vessel may provide more separation space but also changes hold-up. Evaluate the complete residence-time distribution for sensitive food products.
