Acceptance tests for a forced-circulation system

Define measurable conditions for capacity, product quality, utilities and cleanability.

01

Agree the test feed

Specify composition, solids basis, viscosity at temperature, suspended material and batch variation. Record the sampling and measurement methods. A substitute liquid may verify mechanical operation but cannot establish the food-product process guarantee.

02

Measure net and circulating flows separately

Report feed, concentrate and evaporated water in kg/h. Report circulation flow in its agreed units with density where conversion is required. Measure pump and heater pressure conditions so the hydraulic result can be interpreted.

03

Record quality and utilities

Compare actual outlet properties with the agreed quality criteria. Record steam, power, cooling and relevant operating conditions using a defined boundary. Preserve start-up and cleaning consumption separately from the steady-state test.

04

Demonstrate the operating envelope

Include the agreed minimum load, planned product change and validated cleaning acceptance where these are in scope. Define how deviations, instrument uncertainty and balance closure are handled before the test begins.

MODULE 01

Circulation pump & drive

Keep the loop moving. The circulation pump sets the flow through the heater. That flow is distinct from the incoming feed and from the mass of water evaporated. Selection must follow the concentrated liquid throughout the planned operating range, including start-up and restart after cooling.

MODULE 04

Entrainment separation

Protect the recovered vapour. Droplets leaving with the vapour represent product loss and can contaminate downstream equipment. A separation device must work with the product’s foam and fouling behaviour. The choice of internals depends on the operating envelope and cleaning access.

MODULE 08

Controls, sampling & CIP interfaces

Observe the limits; validate the clean. A useful control philosophy connects each process risk to a measurement and response. Loss of circulation, feed interruption or a changing vacuum needs a defined action. The cleaning boundary must include the pump and every product-contact part of the loop.
