A finishing stage within a larger evaporation train

Forced circulation can be one part of the concentration path rather than the only evaporator type.

Define the hand-off point

Record flow, concentration, temperature and product properties leaving the upstream stage. Explain why a separate finishing stage is being considered: wetting, viscosity, deposits, quality or another limit. That reason must be testable.

Reconcile the stage balances

The upstream concentrate becomes the finishing-stage feed. Count its mass solids once and reconcile removed water across the whole train. Do not add two nameplate feed capacities and describe the sum as plant evaporation capacity.

Coordinate utilities and control

A shared vapour network or vacuum arrangement couples the stages. Evaluate start-up order, feed interruption, buffer inventory and heat availability. Confirm which stage regulates final concentration and how upstream variation is managed.

Verify the product at the end

An acceptable first-stage sample is not the final product. Include the finishing residence history, repeated shear, discharge conditions and cleaning interval in the quality and acceptance review.

Flash separation vessel

Release vapour and retain liquid. The pressure change at the separator enables part of the heated liquid to flash. The vessel provides space for vapour disengagement while maintaining liquid inventory for recirculation. Its level and geometry therefore affect both separation and pump suction.

Concentrate discharge package

Control the product leaving the loop. Withdrawal and fresh feed must remain consistent with the water-removal duty and circulating inventory. The discharge equipment is selected for final concentrate properties, which may differ substantially from feed properties.
